چکیده
In the recent years, the behavior of structures against earthquakes in earthquake-affected countries has been highly regarded. Hence, many studies have been conducted about the seismic behavior of the structures against earthquake. Since near-field earthquakes exert more damaging effects to the structures, the studies of near-field earthquakes are conducted more than far-field ones. Fling step is one of the destructive effects of near-filed earthquakes happening due to its pulse-like and high period behaviors which are the main destructive factors of structures. In this paper, the drift of the 5-storey special steel moment frame building studied undergoing far and near-field earthquakes using nonlinear time history analysis. The results show that the drift of the structure undergoing far-field earthquake effect with fling step is more than the near-field earthquake.
